SIX SHADOWS

How come father has not committed suicide?

How come mother is not insane as yet

In the midst of a whole lot of sorrows

How come I had a comfortable birth

How many a house we have shifted

Ho, why not even one

is our own

Why hasn’t there a time

when we ate to our hearts’ content

Why is it that inside my brain

cockroaches keep breeding in millions

Cramming inside a coffin

the whole lot of these queries

and to come out of this soil

In fury unleashed

I walk on

Out of me six shadows

pursue

One after another

None I merited with a backward glance ever

ஆறு நிழல்கள்

அப்பா ஏன் தற்கொலை செய்துகொள்ளவில்லை

அம்மாவுக்கு ஏன் இன்னும் பைத்தியம் பிடிக்காமல் இருக்கிறது

இத்தனை துக்கத்திலும்

நான் எப்படி சுகமாகப் பிறந்திருக்கிறேன்

எத்தனை வீடுகள் மாறியிருக்கிறோம்

ஒன்றுக்கூட

எங்களுக்கு ஏன் சொந்தமாக இல்லை

வயிறு நிறைய சாப்பிட்ட காலமொன்று

எங்களுக்கு உருப்படியாய் ஏன் வாய்க்கவில்லை

என் மூளைக்குள் ஏன் கோடிக் கணக்கில்

மூட்டைப் பூச்சிகள் உற்பத்தியாகிகொண்டே இருக்கின்றன

இத்தனை கேள்விகளையும்

ஒரு சவப்பெட்டியில் அடைத்துக்கொண்டு

இந்த மண்ணிலிருந்து ஆவேசமாய்

வெளியேற நடக்கிறேன்

என்னிலிருந்து ஆறு நிழல்கள்

ஒன்றன் பின் ஒன்றாக தொடர்ந்து வருகின்றன

அதில் ஒன்றைக்கூட

நான் திரும்பி பார்க்கவேயில்லை
