SHE THE BOAT-DWELLER

With the red-hued-dragonflies reposing

on the sail held by the hands of the boat-woman

the wooden canoe moves quietly.

The white-birds circling the canoe

sketch the stirs of water

on the sky

When the fish leap out of the water

every now and then

With sun-burnt dark wrinkles

surfacing on her forehead

She would smile to herself

As symphony

she would be listening to the sound

of water-hens chorusing at dusk

from the shrubs on the bank

while crossing the river in an empty ferry

She would at times have it anchored in mid-river

and visualize around the boat

firmly built doors and windows

Then lying on her back, looking up

she would weave the roof

in sky blue or

in shining black of the star-lights or

in grey of the hanging full-moon

or in seven-hues blended rainbow.

படகுக்காரியின்கைகள்பற்றியிருக்கும்துடுப்பில்

செந்தும்பிகள்ஓய்வெடுக்க

சலனமின்றிநகர்கிறதுபலகைத்தோணி

ஓடத்தைவட்டமிட்டுப்பறக்கும்வெண்பறவைகள்

ஆகாயத்தில்வரைகின்றன

தண்ணீரின்சலனங்களை

நீரிலிருந்துமீன்கள்

அவ்வப்போதுதுள்ளிப்பாய்கையில்

வெயிலில்கருத்தநெற்றிவரிகள்சுருங்க

தனக்குள்சிரித்துக்கொள்வாள்

அந்திநேரங்களில்

கரைப்புதர்களுக்குள்ளிருந்து

நீர்க்கோழிகள்குலவையிடுமோசையை

இசையெனக்கேட்டிருப்பாள்

ஆற்றைக்கடக்கும்பயணிகளற்றவேளைகளில்

ஆற்றின்மத்தியில்நங்கூரமிட்டுக்கொள்பவள்

படகைச்சுற்றிவர

கற்பனையில்கட்டிக்கொள்வாள்

உறுதியானகதவுகளை, ஜன்னல்களை

பின்னர் அண்ணாந்துபடுத்து

கூரையைநெய்துகொள்வாள்

ஆகாயநீலத்தில்அல்லது

நட்சத்திரவிளக்குகள்மின்னும்கருப்பில்அல்லது

பௌர்ணமிநிலாதொங்கும்சாம்பல்நிறத்தில்அல்லது

ஏழுவர்ணங்கள்குழைத்தவானவில்லில்
