NATIONAL PARK’S MORN :

THE ONGOING DREAM OF JUNGLE

The silken rims of the antlers

spread above the spotted deer by the mountain

glittering

The Mynahs of the woodland turning the leafy-notes

of the teakwood trees into songs and voicing

The cluster of elephants crossing the pathway of the forest

smiling with their trunks plucking grasses

The languorous looks of the ‘Hanuman Langur’ monkeys

lighting up with their tails turning taut leaping on to the tree

The flourishing swell of the jungle’s chlorophyll

surging forth, overflowing

The crested serpent eagle leaning on one side

explaining its situation

With the hoofs of wild boar stamping

the soil turning messy

The redwood tree that the oriental giant squirrel

of Malabar Mount climb on

scratching the back of wild boar and peeling off its barks

The blue peacock with its plumage held back refusing to call out

The jungle fowl chasing its mate

‘Sambar deer’ fawns lurking

A family waiting in vain for hours of wait

to take a photo of the tiger coming to drink water in the pond

returning to their hotel

and avoiding that evening’s visit to the forest

the European couple of the adjacent room

show them the pictures of that tiger that they had seen

revelling

Readying that family that has never seen a tiger

of the jungle in their life

for another visit to the forest

the jungle turns all the more eager

as the ongoing dream of a kaleidoscope.

தேசியப் பூங்காவின் காலை: ஆரணியத்தின் தொடர்கனவு

புள்ளிமான்களின் மேல் மலைவிரித்தக்

கொம்புக் கிளைகளின் பட்டு ஓரங்கள் ஒளிர

தேக்கு மரங்களின் இலைக் குறிப்புகளை

காட்டு மைனாக்கள் பாடல்களாக்கி ஒலிக்க

வாகனங்கள் வழிமறிக்க வனச்சாலை கடக்கும் யானைக் கூட்டம்

புற்களைப் பறிக்கும் தும்பிக்கைகளால் புன்னகைக்க

ஹனுமன் லங்கூர் குரங்குகளின் சோம்பற் பார்வைகள்

சுறுசுறுப்பாகித் தம் வால் விறைத்து மரம் தாவ

அடவிப் பச்சையத்தின் சுபிட்சத் திரட்சி பெருக்கெடுத்து வழிய

பாம்புண்ணிக் கழுகு தலை சாய்த்துத் தன்னிலை விளக்க

காட்டெருமைகளின் காலடிக் குளம்புகள் தொட்டு மண்பூமி குழம்ப

மலபார் மலை அணில் ஏறும் செம்மரம்

காட்டுப்பன்றி முதுகு சொறிந்து பட்டை உதிர்க்க

தோகை அடக்கிய நீல மயில் அகவல் மறுக்க

காட்டுக்கோழி தன் இணை துரத்த

கடமான்குட்டிகள் நிலம் பதுங்க

குளத்தில் நீர் அருந்த வரும் புலியை

ஒளிப்படம் எடுக்கக் காத்திருந்து ஏமாந்த குடும்பம் ஒன்று

விடுதி திரும்பி அன்றைய மாலையின் காட்டுப் பயணம் தவிர்க்க

அம்மாலைப் பயணம் சென்ற அண்டை அறை ஐரோப்பிய ஜோடி

தாம் கண்ட அந்தப் புலியின் சௌந்தர்ய ஒளிப்படங்களைக் காட்டிக் களிக்கின்றனர்

இன்னும் தம் வாழ்வில் ஒரு கானுயிர் புலி கூட பார்த்திராத

அக்குடும்பத்தை மேலும் ஒரு கானக உலாவிற்குத் தயாராக்கி
