At dusk

the lone tree standing by the roadside

brims with the chirping of birds

Vehicles unmoved

move on swiftly.

Carrying the tree with all its resonance

I am returning home.

With chunks of road

keep falling en route

Entering inside

the jungle fills my habitat.

அந்தியில் பறவைச் சத்தத்தால்

நிறைகிறதிந்த நெடுஞ்சாலையோரம்

நிற்கும் தனிமரம்

பொருட்படுத்தா வாகனங்கள்

விரைந்து கடக்கின்றன

தனிமரத்தை சப்தத்தோடு

எடுத்து

வீடு திரும்பிக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றேன்

நெடுஞ்சாலை துண்டு துண்டாக

வழிநெடுக

விழுந்து

கொண்டேயிருக்க

வீட்டுக்குள்

வந்து நிறைகிறது

காடு.

IF ELEPHANT COMES 

A CHILD I BECOME

(1)

Many a wagon pass by
The road remains firm, unperturbed
The road that says not anything
Even when a heavy vehicle speeds past
Says ‘O, it pains’
In the small accident
Of he who stepped out
So very angry.

The tourist van carrying school children
Howling all the way
The highway
Turns happiness-personified.

At day break
The road is different
During day time
The road is different
The twilight-road is different
The road of midnight
Is the heart.

It is but the road that says
that the taste of dog urinating
and that of the boy
are dissimilar always.

In this bazaar
As intestine
The highways
lies in the middle

They would close the shops
I would return home
Then what would you be doing at night
I ask the road
I would go to the sky
It replies.

For seeing a peaceful highway
We need to wait for the whole day.

This bazaar road loves so much
the humans.

Do you sleep I asked
During daytime I would sleep
At night I stay awake
says the road.

If so, who are you, respected road
For all those in the market
Stomach
I am

In the temple tower glow
I would dream
If elephant comes
A child I become
I would ascend the rear seat of the Scooty
steered by a young woman.
Oh is it why she is such a beauty?
He who has a roadside shop
is a friend
if having a shop in a lane
Beloved then.

ஆனை நடந்தால் குழந்தையாவேன்

எத்தனையோ வாகனங்கள் கடக்கின்றன
சாலை அழுத்தமாக இருக்கிறது
கனரக வாகனம் கடக்கும் போதும்
ஒன்றுமே சொல்லாத
சாலை
கோபத்தில் வந்தவனின்
சிறு விபத்தில்
ஓ ...
வலிக்கிறது
என்கிறது

பள்ளிக் குழந்தைகள்
ஊளையிட்டுச் செல்கிற
சுற்றுலா
வாகனம்
குதூகலமடைகிறது
சாலை

விடியலில் சாலை வேறு விதம்
பகலில் சாலை வேறு விதம்
சாயுங்கால சாலை வேறு விதம்
நள்ளிரவின் சாலை
இருதயம்

நாய் சிறுநீர் கழிப்பதும்
பையன் சிறுநீர் கழிப்பதும்
சுவை ஒன்றுபோலில்லை
என்று சொல்வதும்
சாலை தான்

இந்த பஜாரில்
குடல் போலும்
நடுவில்
படுத்திருக்கிறது
நெடுஞ்சாலை

கடைகள் அடைத்துவிடுவார்கள்
நான் வீட்டுக்குச் சென்று விடுவேன்
பின்னர் இரவில்
என்ன செய்வீர்கள்
என்றேன் சாலையிடம்
ஆகாயத்துக்குச் சென்று விடுவேன்
என்கிறது சாலை

மன நிம்மதியோடு இருக்கும் சாலையை காண
ஒரு நாள் முழுதும் காத்திருக்க வேண்டும்

மனிதர்களை இஷ்டத்திற்குப் பிடித்துப் போயிருக்கிறது
இந்த பஜார் சாலைக்கு

உறங்குவீர்களா என்றேன்
பகலில் தூங்கி விடுவேன்
இரவில் விழித்திருப்பேன்
என்கிறது சாலை

அப்படியானால் நீங்கள் யார் சாலையாரே ...
பஜாரில் உள்ள அத்தனைபேருக்கும்
நானே
வயிறு

கோபுர விளக்கொளியில்
கனவு காண்பேன்
ஆனை நடந்தால் குழந்தையாவேன்
ஸ்கூட்டியோட்டிக் செல்லும் யுவதியின்
பின்னிருக்கையில்
ஏறி அமர்வேன்
அதனால்தான் அவள் அத்தனை அழகு ?
ரோட்டோரத்தில்
கடை வைத்திருப்பவன்
நண்பன்
சந்தில்
கடை வைத்திருந்தால்
காதலி
