WAR INSIDE MY DOOR

Two pots

Two cardboard boxes

Four sparrows

An electric post in front

Two red- vented bulbuls

constructing a nest

collecting grass fibers non-stop

shaping them into a small basket

untiringly.

War – Ho war

between the sparrows and bulbuls

Unbelievable

is the abject selfishness of sparrows

and their domineering arrogance

of dismantling the nests

of hapless bulbuls.

Ten days have elapsed

The sparrows are not for

sparing even an inch, for sure

The bulbuls continued their endeavour

Envy and rivalry

between sparrows too?

With the anguish born of wondering thus

each day dawns, alas.

(P.S:This is a real war I have to witness everyday. And the screeches are not to my liking. Even today I am haunted by the bulbuls screaming on seeing their nests dismantled and in their cry I hear man’s wail- The poet)

என் வீட்டில் போர்

இரண்டு பானைகள்

இரண்டு அட்டைப் பெட்டிகள்

நான்கு சிட்டுக்குருவிகள்

எதிரில் மின் கம்பம்

இரண்டு ரெட் வெண்டட்

புல் புல்கள்

கூடு கட்டும் பணியில்

ஓயாது நார்கள் புற்கள்

சேகரிப்பு

சலிக்காமல் அவைகளை

சிறு கூடையாக

வடிவமைப்பு செய்தல்

போர் போர்

குருவிகளுக்கும்

புல் புல் களுக்கும்

நம்பவே முடியவில்லை

குருவிகளின் சுய நலத்தை

புல் புல் களின்

கூட்டை பிரித்தெறியும்

அவைகளின்

ஆதிக்க செயலை

பத்து நாட்கள்

ஆகிவிட்டது

சிட்டு குருவிகளும்

விட்டுக் கொடுக்கவில்லை

புல் புல் களும்

முயற்சியை விடவில்லை

போட்டியும் வன்மமும்

குருவிகளின்

வாழ்விலுமா என்று

விசனத்தை சுமந்தே

விடிகிறது

ஒவ்வொரு காலையும்

( இது நிஜத்தில் நான் காணும் போர். கீச்சொலிகள் எனக்கு உவப்பானதாக இல்லை. இன்று மாலை வேளையில் கூட தங்களின் கூடுபிரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதை கண்டு கலங்கிய புல் புல் களின் கீச்சில் மனிதனின் ஓலமே எனக்கு கேட்கிறது. )
