Pointing at the Moon glittering

on the Full-Moon Day

When asked what was that

The toy given by Daddy

said the child seated in the hand

regally.

Wishing to continue the chat

when asked

the reason for it being

somewhere far above

‘It was I who placed it there’

said the child, joy-personified

stretching its little hand

towards the sky

To ward off the lurking danger of it

being snatched away by a fellow-child

It had placed it up there

the child whispered into the ear.

Reducing in size

with the passing of each day

On a day when it just went off the radar

The heart missing a beat

running hastily

When he informed that the Moon safely hidden up there

had gone missing

Slowly stretching forward the little hands

concealed at the back

and spreading them

clapping its hands

impishly laughing at he who

stood there feeling disappointed

not knowing the fact that

in order to play

It had brought it all the way

from there to here

the child’s eyes bore

Full Moons two more.

முழுநிலவு நாளில்

ஜொலித்திட்ட அம்புலியைக் காட்டி

அது என்னவென்று கேட்டவனிடம்

தந்தை தனக்களித்த விளையாட்டுப் பொருள்

என பதில் தந்தது

கையில் ஒய்யாரமாய் அமர்ந்திருந்த குழந்தை

இன்னும் பேச்சினை வளர்க்க வேண்டி

அவ்வளவு உயரத்தில் இருப்பதன்

காரணம் வினவிட

தான்தான் அங்கே வைத்ததாய்க் கூறி

பிஞ்சுவிரல் நீட்டிக் குதூகலித்தது

சக குழந்தையொன்று

அதனைப் பிடுங்கிக்கொள்ளும் அபாயாமிருப்பதால்தான்

எட்டாத் தொலைவில் வைத்திருக்கும் காரணத்தை

காதுக்குள் இரகசியாய்ச் சொன்னது

தினம் தினம் தேய்ந்து

முழுதாய்க் காணாமல் போனதொரு நாளில்

மனம் பதைபதைக்க

வேகமாய் ஓடிச் சென்று

வின்னில் பதுக்கப் பட்டிருந்த நிலவு

தொலைந்து போன செய்தியைச் சொன்னதும்

பின்னே மறைத்திருக்கும் கைகளை

மெல்ல முன் கொண்டுவந்து

விரித்துக் காட்டி

விளையாட வேண்டி

நேற்றே பத்திரமாய் எடுத்துவைத்திருப்பது தெரியாமல்

ஏமாந்து வந்திருப்பவனைக் கேலிசெய்து

கைகொட்டிச் சிரித்த

மழலையின் கண்களுக்குள்

மேலும் இரண்டு பௌர்ணமிகள்.
