(1)THE RIDGE GOURD CREEPER OF THE ADJACENT HOUSE

As a green angel dancing in the air

As a swing for the squirrels to play and enjoy
With flowers fruits and tendrils
so softly moves on _
The ridge gourd creeper of the adjacent house
The moment I open the window
It would smile at me.
My companionship with it
is so close and too deep
Just like me it too cooks meals
every noon
Yet it doesn’t fill the atmosphere
with carbon-di-oxide.
Converting our waste gas into firewood
It fills our courtyard with pure cool air.
In its cluster of yellow flowers
it has written
poems aplenty.
On seeing its unripe fruit hanging as weaverbirds _
would bang against the walls of memory
and stirs on the tongue
with the aroma of roasting small onions and mustard
rising above the roof
adding Vatraalai and Velliraal
the ‘Peerkankaai Paalkari’
that grandma used to prepare for us all.

அயல்வீட்டுப் பீர்க்க்கங்கொடி
அந்தரத்தில் நடனமிடும்
பச்சைத் தேவதையாயும்
அணில் பிள்ளைகள் ஆடிமகிழும்
ஊஞ்சலாயும்
பூபிஞ்சும் தந்துக் கரங்களுமாய்
மிகமென்மையாய் நடை பயிலுது
அயல்வீட்டுப் பீர்க்கங்கொடி
ஜன்னல் திறந்ததுமே
புன்னகைக்கும்
அதனுடனான என் சிநேகிதம்
அண்மையானதும் மிகஆழமானதுங்கூட.
என்னைப் போலவே தினமதுவும்
மதியஉணவு சமைக்கிறது..
ஆனாலும்
காற்றுவெளியை அது கார்பன் மயமாக்குவதில்லை.
நம் கழிவு காற்றையே
தன் அடுப்பு விறகாக்கித்
தூயகுளிர் காற்றால் முற்றம் நிரப்புகிறது.
கொத்தான அதன் மஞ்சள் பூக்களிலே
எழுதி வைத்திருக்கிறது
பலநூறு கவிதைகள்.
தூக்கணாங் குருவிக்கூடு போலே
தொங்குமதன் காயைக் காண்கையிலே
ஞாபகச்சுவரை
முட்டி மோதிக்கொண்டே
நாவூறச் செய்கிறது...
கடுகும் சின்னவெங்காயமும் தாளித்தமணம் கூரைக்கு மேலாயும் வழிந்தோட
வற்றாளையும் வெள்ளிறாலும்..
சேர்த்தாக்கிய உம்மும்மாவின்
பீர்க்க்கங்காய் பால்கறிதான்.

(2) RARITY

The tiny grains sprinkled
lie breathing inside the jar
Can there be a plant the size of seed
inside the jar
The soil calculates roughly.

Yet
all that had been sown as grown
for one bucketful of water
blossomed to the fullest
So one in a million rarity
You indeed.

As a green angel in the courtyard
adorned by emerald
You shine radiantly

Your uniqueness you keep proving
through each and every pale yellow shoot
that unfolds

I know absolutely
the wholesomeness of
Your beauty's Magnetic pull.

அபூர்வம்

தெளித்துவிட்ட சிறு மணிகள்
உயிர்த்திருக்கு சாடிக்குள்ளே..
விதையளவு செடியேது
சாடிக்குள்ளே..
குத்துமதிப்பாய் கணக்குப் பண்ணுது பூமி.
ஆனாலும்
விதைத்தவை யாவுமே முளைத்ததாயும்..
வார்த்த ஒரு வாளிக்கே
பூத்திட்ட பூவாயும்..
ஆயிரத்தில் ஒன்றாய்
நான் காணும் அபூர்வம் நீ..
முற்றத்திலே மரகதம் சூடிய
பச்சை தேவதையாய்..
தனித்தொளிர்கிறாய்.
தனித்துவங்களை
விரியும்
ஒவ்வோர் இளமஞ்சள் குருத்தினூடையும்
நிரூபணம் செய்கிறாய்.
அறிவேன்..
உன் அழகீர்ப்பின்
முழுமையை...
