A POEM BY
PAAL NILAVAN
Going into the forest
and also the wish to wade through
the length and breadth of our land
as a solitary vagabond
was also there a little....
It is the modern world
preventing me from going anywhere
It gave me a call to go, understand the
society of fellowmen.
With the reminiscence of Bird
all-pervading in my room
Inside my cabin sans Television noise
prevailed the silence of the woodland.
Shelf full of books
sharing experiences invaluable
of places near and far
day-in and day-out...
The memories of the past
with days and means of livelihood
spent in different directions
dissolving
and the dreams of hope
that everything would change
drifting away.....
Yet , what at all is there to feel sad
as stuck inside
this Life of the Solitary Cabin
so heartily chosen?
ஒரு துறவியாய் காட்டிற்குள் செல்வதுதான்
ஆரம்பகால விருப்பம்....
ஒரு தனிமைப் பயணியாய்
நாட்டின் நூறாயிரம் வெளியூர்களுக்கு
பாதயாத்திரையாகச் செல்லவும்
கொஞ்சம் ஆசைகள்...
அப்படி எங்கேயும் சென்றுவிடாமல்
நவீன உலகம்தான் தடுத்து நிறுத்தியது...
சகோதர சமுதாயத்தை
புரிந்துகொள்ள அழைத்தது
பறவையின் நினைவுகள்
அறையெங்கும் நிறைந்திருக்க
தொலைக்காட்சி இரைச்சலில்லாத
எனது அறைக்குள் காட்டின் பேரமைதி...
நாட்டின் நூறாயிரம் வெளியூர் பயணங்களில்
செல்லும் அனுபவங்களை பகிர்ந்தளிக்கும்
அலமாரி நிறைய புத்தகங்கள் ...
பல்வேறு திசைகளில்
வேலையும்நாட்களும் கரைந்துசெல்ல
கடந்து வந்த நினைவுகளும்...
மாறும் எதுவும் என்ற
நம்பிக்கை கனவுகளும்...
சுதந்தரித்து சிறகை விரிக்க.....
எனில் விரும்பி ஏற்றுக்கொண்ட
இந்த தனிஅறை வாழ்க்கையில்
சிக்கிக்கொண்டதாக
வருத்தப்பட என்ன இருக்கிறது...
பால் நிலவன்
