One of the constructs

going strong century after century

belied.

Under a sunshade filled with dust and garbage

a woman in dirt was having food.

In this road where vehicles fly past non- stop in surreal frenzy

The couple who came along with their child

tumble down spread-eagled

None came anywhere near.

Rooted in their spots

they were busy dialing 108.

She alone

forgetting to wash her hand

came running

and with great effort brought the man

hurt and anguished, unable to rise

to a sitting posture.

On one side the child lay unconscious.

Picking it up, compassion-personified

sprinkling the residual water in the plastic bottle

she fed the child with a few drops.

The child growing a little normal

evinced an expression

somewhere between sob and bewilderment.

Poor child

In the tales it had heard

and the cartoon channel viewed

the angels were not shown thus….

Indeed yes

One of the century-old lies

thus belied

broken into smithereens.

காலங்காலமாய்த்

தொடர்ந்து கொண்டிருக்கும்

கற்பிதங்களில் ஒன்றின்று

பொய்யாக்கப்பட்டது

குப்பைகள்

நிறைந்த நிழற்கூடமொன்றில்

அழுக்கானப் பெண்ணொருத்தி

உணவருந்திக் கொண்டிருக்கிறாள்

ஓய்வின்றி வாகனங்கள்

மாயமாய்ப் பறந்துகொண்டிருக்கும்

இச்சாலையில் குழந்தையோடு வந்த

தம்பதிகள் தவறி விழுந்துச் சிதற

யாரும்

பக்கத்தில் வரவில்லை.

நின்ற இடத்திலிருந்து

நூற்றிஎட்டுக்கான அழைப்பினை

அழைத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தனர்

அவள் மட்டும்

எச்சில் கை கழுவ மறந்து

ஓடிவந்து

எழமுடியாமல் தவித்தவரை

தூக்கி அமரவைக்க

ஒருபுறம் மூர்ச்சையுற்றுக் கிடந்தது

குழந்தை

வாரித் தூக்கி

அழுக்கு மார்பில் அணைத்தபடி

நிழற்கூடம் புகுந்து

நெகிழிப் போத்தலில் மீதமிருந்தத்

தண்ணீரை தெளித்தெழுப்பி

வாயில் வைத்துப் புகட்டுகிறாள்

சற்றுத் தெளிவுற்றக் குழந்தை

அழுகைக்கும் குழப்பத்திற்கும் இடையிலான

முகபாவனையை உதிர்க்கிறது.

பாவம்

அது கேட்டக் கதைகளிலும்

அது பார்த்தக் கார்ட்டூன் சேனலிலும்

தேவதைகளை இப்படிக் காட்டியதில்லை...

காலங்காலமானக் கற்பிதங்களில் ஒன்று

இது போன்றுதான்

உடைத்தெறிந்துப் பொய்யாக்கப்படுகிறது...
