It was there I came across friendship pristine

Children unaware of the value of friendship

Yet it was there that Friendship has spread its roots far and wide

In wonder and awe.

It was he who underwent a minor surgery

And he was away from them for just four days

Even during leave

He used to go see them

Now and then.

It was there I witnessed

Affection uncontaminated….

Soon after I had gone and sat there

As if he was to arrive then

The ‘Dandiya’ sticks rose up

and the rows lengthened.

I thought some chief guest was coming

He was not even a wholesome sapling.

When he came with a bandaged foot

Lovely children gave him a rousing welcome

with the rhythm and beats of 'Kolaattam'.

And children one and all

plucked him lock stock and barrel

He lay in their hands, blooming

I remained there brimming.

Who said that there is no love lost

between children forsaken?

Who said that they cannot understand

the value of kinship

They in fact love utmost

They love in right earnest.

Unlike yours

their love is laden with

Love alone.

அங்குதான் கண்டேன்

சினேகிதத்தை அவர்கள்

சினேகிதத்தின் கனமறியாத

பாலகர்கள்

ஆனாலும் அங்கு தான் சினேகிதத்தின்

வேர்கள் பிரம்மித்துப் படர்ந்து

கிடந்தன.....

அவனுக்குத்தான் சிறு

அறுவை சிகிச்சை நடந்தது

நான்கு நாட்கள் தான் அவன்

அவர்களைப் பிரிந்திருந்தான்

அவ்வப்போது அவன் விடுமுறையிலும்

சென்று வருவான் தான்

ஆனாலும் அங்கு தான் கண்டேன்

பாசத்தை....

நான் சென்றமர்ந்த சிறிது

நேரத்தில் அவன் வருவதாக இருந்தது

போல கோலாட்டக் குச்சிகள் உயர்ந்தது

வரிசைகள் நீண்டது

நானோ விருந்தாளி வருவதாக

எண்ணியிருந்தேன்

விடலைப் பயிர் கூட இல்லை

அவன் .......

உள்ளங்காலில் சிறு கட்டோடு

வந்தவனை பொல்லடித்து வரவேற்று

கொள்ளை மழலைகள்

ஒன்றாய்க் கொய்தன அவனை

அவன் அவர்கள் கைகளுக்குள் பூத்துக்கிடந்தான்.....

நான் திமிர்த்துப் போயிருந்தேன்.

யார் சொன்னது கைவிடப்பட்ட

குழந்தைகளுக்குள் பாசப்பிணைப்பு

இல்லை என்று?

யார் சொன்னது அவர்களுக்கு

உறவுகளின் பெறுமதி புரியாதென்று?

அவர்கள் உண்மையில்

காதலிக்கிறார்கள்

உண்மையாய்க் காதலிக்கிறார்கள்

உங்கள் காதல் போலல்ல

அங்கு காதல் மட்டுமே

கனத்துக் கிடக்கிறது!
