PAIN UNCHAINED

In the leaves of the tiny plant sprouting

From the sand particle stuck in the blood-soaked sole of a warrior

The dreams of his life lost

remain all faded out

For the eyes turned dry of his dear wife

whom he used to kiss yearly once

this tiny plant may provide solace

The remaining lone shoe of His

might narrate the throbbing pain

of his feet

that, thoroughly fatigued,

walked on and on

to his children.

For his dear family that has lost everything

for the sake of nation

he has now gifted a sapling.

In his nation so dear

In his household where he is no more

standing under the tree in the shade

that his feet had borne

She is going to keep reading

his letters of days bygone

with tear-filled eyes.

The pain of the

price paid for Independence

his family keeps enduring

day in, day out

in silence.

சுதந்திர வலி

ஒரு போர்க்கள வீரனின்

குருதியூறிய உள்ளங்கால் மண்துகள்களிலிருந்து

முளைத்தெழுகிற சிறு செடியின் இலைகளில்

அவனது

வாழப்படாத வாழ்வின் கனவுகள்

வெளிறிக் கிடக்கின்றன.

ஆண்டுக்கொருமுறை அவன் முத்தமிட்ட

அவனது மனைவியின்

வறண்டு போயிருக்கும் கண்களுக்கு

இந்த செடி ஆறுதலாயிருக்கலாம்.

மிஞ்சியிருக்கும்

அவனது ஒற்றைச் சப்பாத்து

நடந்து களைத்த அவனது பாதங்களின்

தீரா வலியை

அவனது குழந்தைகளுக்கு சொல்லலாம்.

தேசத்திற்காகவே எல்லாவற்றையும் இழந்த

தனது பிரியத்துக்குரிய குடும்பத்துக்காக

இப்போது

அவனொரு செடியைப் பரிசளித்திருக்கிறான்.

அவன் நேசித்த நாட்டில்

அவன் இல்லாத வீட்டில்

அவனது பாதம் சுமந்த மர நிழலின் கீழ்

அவள்

அவனது பழைய கடிதங்களை

கண்ணீருடன் வாசித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கப் போகிறாள்.

சுதந்திரத்திற்காய்

கொடுத்த விலையின் வலியை

அவனது குடும்பம்

அமைதியாய் அனுபவித்துக் கொண்டேயிருக்கிறது

எல்லா நாளும்.
