A MURDER AND SOME

PRIOR AND LATER TESTIMONIES

After viewing the boat that

in the vast expanse of water

where the wail of death reverberated

with the rope tearing off and oscillating in the air

getting buried deep down

and going around it

the eyes hastened towards the lagoon

On the backs of those lads drowning

some poets have drawn wings

Some more have heaped

several bloated corpses

and some school bags

Some artists were floating in the air

and sketching

turning the boat sinking on one side

sliding further

Within a few hours of the Facebook

catching fire

molten rocks fell on the ground

and exploded as volcanoes.

I move the Time forward and observe

In a lodging contractors are sitting in chairs

Moving closer I see

some costly wine bottles

And yellow notes neatly tied and wrapped in bundles

are lying in heaps on the their tables.

Ere the wine cups become empty

The tugboat are there ready

But

discussions and debates regarding

the length and breadth of the bridge

went on

I inquired those words that got into my ears

within the instant of deciding to leave the table

that had nothing to say on quality

informing me of the way people were abused

they left.

Enraged I approach the lagoon once again

Of the gods who came hurriedly in the boats

the hands of one god are carrying a boy

retrieved

With eyes turned misty

I moved still closer

The boys with their wings fully drenched

On their way to sleep under the

‘tombstone

were shrouded in white cloth.

Now I try journeying towards Future

The bridge where I was standing

has turned into a smoke-zone.

When the roar of crackers subsided

some scenes come into view

Please wait a little

I will take a photo of it

and show it to thee.

Inside a frame

some are standing in a row

garlanded.

So close to those holding the same pair of scissors

is tied blocking the bridge

a ribbon in brown tinge.

The costly wristwatches that those in the photograph

whom you watch are wearing

_Oh please don’t ever imagine them to be

Handcuffs.

At times

even for imagination there may be

some Penal Code Section.

பெரு நீர்வெளியில் கையிறறுந்து

காற்றில் அசைந்தபடி

ஆழப் புதைந்துகொண்டிருந்த

படகைச் சுற்றிப் பார்த்துவிட்டு

அந்த வாவிக்கு வெளியே விரைந்தன கண்கள்

நீருக்குள் மூழ்கிக்கொண்டிருக்கும்

சிறுவர்களின் முதுகுகளில்

கவிஞர்கள் சிலர் சிறகுகளை

வரைந்திருக்கிறார்கள்

இன்னும் சிலரால்

படகைச்சுற்றிலும்

ஊதிப்பருத்த சில உடல்களும்

சில புத்தக பைகளும்

கீறிக் குவிகின்றன

சில ஓவியர்கள்

சரிந்த படகை மேலும் சரித்தபடியும்

புதைந்த புத்தக பைகளை

காற்றில் மிதந்தபடியும் வரைந்துகொண்டிருந்தனர்

முகப்புத்தகம் தீப்பிடித்து எரியத் தொடங்கி

சில மணி நேரத்திற்குள்

நிலத்திலும் வீழ்ந்து எரிமலையாக

வெடித்துச் சிதறின தீக்குழம்புகள்

காலத்தை முன்னகர்த்தி பார்க்கிறேன்

விடுதி ஒன்றில் கொந்தராத்துக்காரர்களும்

சில அதிகாரிகளும்

நாற்காலிபோட்டு அமர்ந்திருக்கிறார்கள்

இன்னும் நெருக்கமாக சென்று பார்க்கிறேன்

சில விலையுயர்ந்த மதுப்புட்டிகளும்

கட்டுகளாய் அடுக்கி கட்டப்பட்ட

மஞ்சள் நிறத்திலான நோட்டுகளுமென

அவர்கள் மேஜைகளில் குவிந்து கிடக்கின்றன

மதுக் கோப்பைகள் காலியாவதற்குள்

இழுவைப்படகு தயாராகியிருந்தது

ஆனால்

பாலத்தின் நீள அகலம் குறித்த விவாதங்கள்

நீடித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தன

தரம் பற்றிய எந்த குறிப்பும் இல்லாத

மேஜையை விட்டு அகல முற்படும் நொடிக்குள்

என் காதுக்குள் நுழைந்த சொற்களை

விசாரித்தேன்

மக்களைத் தரக்குறைவாகப் பேசியவற்றை

சொல்லி அகன்றன அச்சொற்கள்

கோபத்தோடு மீண்டும் வாவிக்குகள்

நெருங்குகிறேன்

படகுகளில் விரைந்து வந்த கடவுள்களில்

ஒரு கடவுளாரின் கைகள் ஏந்திக்கொண்டிருக்கின்றன

மீட்கப்பட்ட சிறுவன் ஒருவனை

கண்கள் கசிய இன்னும் நெருங்கிப் போகிறேன்

மீசான் கட்டைகளுக்கு கீழே உறங்கப்போகும்

சிறகு நனைந்த சிறுவர்களைச்சுற்றி

கபனிடப்பட்டிருக்கிறது

இப்போது எதிர்காலத்தை நோக்கி

பயணித்து பார்க்கிறேன்

ஒரே புகை மண்டலமாக இருக்கிறது

நான் நின்றுகொண்டிருக்கின்ற பாலம்

பட்டாசு சத்தம் ஓய்ந்ததும்

சில காட்சிகள் புலப்படுகிறது

சற்றுப் பொறுங்கள்

ஒரு புகைப்படத்தை எடுத்து

உங்களிடம் காண்பிக்கிறேன்

ஒரு சட்டத்திற்குள்

வரிசையில் மாலையணிந்தபடி

ஒரு சிலர் நின்றுகொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள்

ஒரே கத்திரியை பிடித்துக்கொண்டிருப்பவர்களுக்கு

மிக நெருக்கமாக கட்டப்பட்டிருக்கிறது

பாலத்தை மறித்து

பழுப்பு நிறத்தில் ஒரு ரிப்பன்

இப்போது புகைப்படத்தில் நீங்கள் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருப்பவர்கள் அணிந்திருக்கும் அந்த

விலை உயர்ந்த கைக்கடிகாரங்களை ஒருபோதும் கைவிலங்காக கற்பனைசெய்து
