WORLD REFUGEE DAY

(JUNE 20, 2022)

We all came in ship

leaving behind our kith and kin

and Possessions

For, being enslaved and languishing in one's own soil

Is more cruel than the life of a refugee

We didn’t mind separations

Of course we all did lie and came away

Forgetting all that taught by our parents and teachers

For, living in the woods in biting cold

hiding ourselves

would be more cruel than

living in an unknown land

Lies didn’t appear as terrible sin to us

We were all in various Movements

daring to kiss Death any moment.

As Freedom is greater than the alms

given by foes

we didn’t mind being labelled

Militants.

அகதிகள் தினம்

எல்லாரும் கப்பலில்தான் வந்தோம்

உறவுகளை விட்டு உடமைகளை விட்டு

அடிமைகளாக மண்ணில் உழல்வதிலும் பார்க்க

அகதி வாழ்க்கை அவ்வளவு கொடியதல்ல என்பதால்

பிரிவுகள் எமக்குப் பெரிதாய்ப் படவில்லை.

எல்லாரும் பொய் சொல்லித்தான் வந்தோம்

பெற்றாரும் ஆசிரியரும் புகட்டியதை மறந்து

காட்டிலும் குளியிலும் பதுங்குவதிலும் பார்க்க

கண்காணாத நாட்டில் வாழ்வு கொடுமையல்ல என்பதால்

பொய்கள் எமக்குப் பாவமாய்ப் படவில்லை.

எல்லாரும் இயக்கங்களில்தான் இருந்தோம்

எந்த வேளையும் மரணத்தை முத்தமிடத் துணிந்து

எதிரிகள் போடும் பிச்சையிலும் பார்க்க

பெரியது சுதந்திரம் பிச்சையல்ல என்பதால்

பயங்கரவாதிகள் என்ற பட்டம் பொருட்டாகப் படவில்லை.
