I am observing the Sea

and also the Land beyond

By way of comforting the waves

that keep tumbling down

as a child learning to walk

I stepped on the sea

Strolling for a while

trailing along the boat learning to swim

deep into the grand sea

where waves cease to be

I have arrived at midsea.

Rushing

to reach home before dark

unseen by my wife

and children

I returned to the shore

well before

the waves.

நான் கடலைப் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறேன் கடல்தாண்டிய நிலத்தையும்

பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறேன்

நடைபயிலும் குழந்தையைப்போல்

தடுமாறிவிழுகிற அலைகளுக்கு

ஆறுதலாக

சற்றுநேரம் கடலில் நடந்தேன்

அலையேதும் இல்லாத அப்பெருங்கடலின் ஆழத்தில்

நீந்திப்பழகும் படகின்வழியில்

நடுக்கடலுக்கே சென்றுவிட்டேன்

மனைவிக்குத் தெரியாமல்

குழந்தைகளுக்குத் தெரியாமல்

இருளுக்கு முன்பாக

வீடுதிரும்ப வேண்டிய அவசரத்தில்

அலைகளுக்கு முன்பாகவே

கரைதிரும்பி விட்டேன்.
