CAT

The cat born of the white sheet

walked limping

By mistake

I had drawn one leg slightly shorter

The cat glaring at me

and I saying sorry

became habitual between the two of us.

On seeing some other cat speeding past

this one’s eyes would turn fiery

At that time filling the bowl with milk

I would maintain calm.

Today without fail

I gifted drawing sheets

and painting tools

to the little girl in the house opposite.

She ran blooming

as holding the cat close to her heart.

பூனை

தாளிலிருந்து பிறந்த பூனை

விந்தி விந்தி நடந்தது

தவறுதலாக

கால் ஒன்றை குறைச்சலாக்கி வரைந்திருந்தேன்.

எங்களுக்குள் இயல்பாகியது

அது முறைப்பதும்

நான் மன்னிப்பு கேட்பதும்.

விரையும் வேறு பூனை பார்க்க

அதன் கண்கள் நெருப்பாகிடும்

அப்பொழுது கிண்ணத்தில்

பாலை நிரப்பி அமைதிகாத்திடுவேன்.

இன்று மறக்காமல்

வரைபட தாள்களையும்

எழுது உபகரணங்களையும்

எதிர் இல்ல சிறுமிக்கி

அன்பளிப்பாக்கினேன்

பூனையை ஏந்திக்கொண்டதைபோல்

பூத்தோடினாள்.
