ADVANCE LIVING

Those who have got into the train compartment

well in advance

and are sitting there

eye all those who get inside afterwards

mostly as enemies.

Even if the luggage of those prove

lighter than these ones

the former ones eye them contemptuously

as if decrying them for bringing so much.

and maintain a grim silence.

‘Is there a delay in departure’

When would it reach the destination’

_ For such queries

they either respond in abject indifference

or curtly answer in a word or two

and shut their mouth.

But for all the calls through mobile

they provide answers all too pleasantly.

For the lower-birth passengers

nightmares would have started

since the day before itself

with some aged ones asking for exchange of births.

Yet

when the train starts moving

a proximity blossoms

That too when it comes to lovely women

they nurture the readiness to help them

going to the extent of pulling the Alarm Chain

While alighting at their destination

The hearts swell in kindness supreme.

in the manner of living in advance

the closing moments of Life.

ரயில்ப் பெட்டிக்குள்

முன்னதாக ஏறி

அமர்ந்திருப்பவர்கள்

பின்னதாக ஏறும்

ஒவ்வொருவரையும்

அநேகமாக விரோதத்துடன்

நோக்குகிறார்கள்

அவர்களது பயணப் பொதிகள்

தங்களை விடச் சிறிதானாலும்

ஏன் இவ்வளவு சுமக்கிறார்கள்

என்பது போல முகச் சுழிப்பு பொங்க

ஒரு மௌனம் காக்கிறார்கள்

வண்டி தாமதமோ

சேர நிமித்தப்பட்ட ஊருக்கு எப்போது

போய்ச் சேரும் என்பது

போன்ற கேள்விகளுக்கு

அசிரத்தையாக அல்லது

ஒன்றிரண்டு வார்த்தைகளில்

பதில் சொல்லி

வாயை மூடிக் கொள்கிறார்கள்

ஆனால் வரும் அலைபேசி

அழைப்புக்கு அதே பதில்களை

பிரியத்துடன் சொல்கிறார்கள்

கீழ்ப் படுக்கைக் காரர்களுக்கு

நேற்றிலிருந்தே

துர்ச் சொப்பனங்கள்

யாராவது வயசாளிகள்

தங்கள் இருக்கையை

மாற்றித் தரும்படிக் கேட்பதாக

என்றாலும்

ரயில் புறப்படும் போது ஒரு

அந்நியோன்யம் வந்து விடுகிறது

அதிலும் அழகான பெண்கள்

என்றால் அபாயச் சங்கிலியை

இழுத்துக் கூட உதவத் தயாரான

எண்ணங்களை

வளர்த்துக் கொள்கிறார்கள்

இறங்கிப் போகும்போது

பெருங் கனிவு கொள்கிறது மனம்

ஆம்

முடிவுறுகிற வாழ்வுக் கணங்களை

முந்தியே வாழ்வது போலவே
