THE VISION OF DAUGHTER DEAREST

Door closed

forever glowing lamp radiant

_ the sanctum sanctorum.

In the quiet space of the bronze-tongues of bells

the Yaazhis descend

and lie rolling to one side.

Small elephants

Sway a little.

Mother with her exclusive power

opens the doors of the sanctum sanctorum

without waking up her little daughter

sleeping there

without completing the portrait.

Through the divine vision of the depiction

I pay my devout reverence

to Mother God Ammai’s munificence.

ஓவிய மகள்

தூண்டா மணி விளக்கு சுடர்கிற

மூடிய கோயிலின்

கர்ப்பக்கிரகம்,

வெண்கல மணி நாவுகளின்

மௌன வெளியில்

யாழிகள் இறங்கி

புரண்டு படுக்கின்றன.

சிறிய யானைகள்

அசைந்து கொடுக்கின்றன

தாய் தன் விசேஷ சக்தியால்

மூலஸ்தானத்தின் கதவுகளை திறக்கிறாள்

ஓவியத்தை நிறைவு செய்யாமல் பாதியில் உறங்கிய இளைய மகளை

அம்மை எழுப்பவில்லை,

ஓவிய தரிசனத்தின் வழியே

அம்மையின் கருணை அருளுக்கு நான் கை கூப்பினேன்.

2. HIS BODY

He bought two wheels to the legs

As it sped past along the way

she heard not what he intended to say.

He bought her a helmet

With head weighing heavy

She went on

Ignoring his eyes lovelorn

She asked for her heart an engine

and he did buy one

Excited at flying all too fast

She went round and round

with her eyes failing to see him

standing on the ground.

He gave her the key of a new house

and she forgot to unlock the cabin-cage door

wherein she has confined him evermore.

He the man drawn towards a metallic lass

and buys her all that she asks for

a heart that is lovelorn he has

and hands made of bones

Flesh and blood and nerves

sweat-secreting skin

and legs to kneel. Alas…..

அவன் உடல்

கால்களுக்கு இருசக்கரங்கள் வாங்கித் தந்தான்

விரைந்த வேகத்தில் அவன் சொல்ல வந்தது கேட்கவில்லை அவளுக்கு

தலைக்கு கவசம் வாங்கி தந்தான்

பிரியத்தின் கண்களை கனத்த தலையால்

பார்க்காது போனாள்.

இதயத்திற்கு இஞ்சின் கேட்டாள்

வாங்கி தந்தான்

அதிக இயக்கத்தில் பறக்கும் வியப்பில்

மண்ணில் நிற்கும் அவனை அவள் கண்களுக்கு தெரியவில்லை,

ஒரு புதிய இல்லத்தின் சாவியை தந்தான்

அவனை பூட்டிய அறை கூண்டை திறக்க மறந்தாள்.

உலோகப் பெண்ணோடு

சிநேகித்து

கேட்டதெல்லாம் வாங்கி தரும்

அவனுக்கு அன்பில் மயங்கும் இதயமும் எலும்பால் ஆன கைகளும்

ரத்தமும் சதையும் நரம்பும்

வியர்வை சுரக்கும் உடலும்

மண்டியிடக் கால்களும் இருந்தன..
