THENMOZHI DAS

SMILE SO PAINFUL

No way out

except smiling

when some scratch betrayal

as sandpaper

on the social space

With nothing to indict

the white screen

being the back

suitable for scribbling and sticking

The smile brimming with pain

can turn upside down

the inner lexicons of medicines.

For keeping anything flawless and wholesome

better to swallow everything as a

simple ‘Appam’ and go away

Weird endings preconceived are not mere

Scribbling of the heart

But moiré than that – drunkard’s instant vomit

Finding the dark of the lock suiting the key

And keeping the sharpness of key

suiting the lock

are not one and the same.

The fingers that depict contradictions

with the feeling of oll-will

and wrapping it in a silver-paper and gifting it

are more gruesome than hands that kill.

Kissing in the cheek

Scratching the heart

Not giving even water

And nailing

Inserting finger in the hip

to see whether there is life still

_ It was those chapters derisive and sardonic

which became the great grand

New Covenant

All that is Here and Now would turn

Time bygone.

புன்னகைப்பதைத் தவிர வேறு வழியில்லை

சிலர் வஞ்சகத்தை

உப்புக் காகிதமாய் சமூக வெளியில்

உரசும் போது

குற்றப்படுத்த ஏதுமில்லாத நிலையில்

வெள்ளைத் திரை

கிறுக்கிக் குத்துவதற்கு ஏதுவான முதுகு

வலிமிக்க புன்னகை

மாத்திரைகளின் உள் அகராதிகளை

புரட்டியெடுக்க வல்லது

குற்றமும் குறையுமற்றதாக்க

எதையும் எளிய அப்பத்தைப் போல

விழுங்கி விலகிச் செல்லுதல் நல்லது

விசித்திர முன்முடிவுகள் மனக்கிறுக்கல்கள் மட்டுமல்ல

குடிகாரனின் அவசர வாந்தி

சாவிக்கு ஏதுவான பூட்டின் இருள்

கண்டடைவதும்

பூட்டுக்கு ஏதுவான சாவியின் கூர்மை

வைத்திருப்பதும் வேறு வேறு

முரண்களை பகை உணர்சியோடு

சித்தரித்து

வெள்ளிக் காகிதத்தில் சுற்றி பரிசளிக்கும் விரல்கள்

கொலைக் கரத்தை விட கொடூரமானது

கன்னத்தில் முத்தமிட்டு

மனதைக் கீறி

தண்ணீர் கூடத் தராமல் அறைந்து

விலாவில் விரல்விட்டு உயிர் உள்ளதா

எனக் கண்டு பரிகசித்த அத்தியாயங்கள் தான்

ஆகப்பெரும் புதிய ஏற்பாடு ஆனது

எல்லா தற்காலமும் இறந்தகாலமாகும்
